Pumpkins rolling out new lineup

It's official: The Smashing Pumpkins reunion isn't really a reunion at all. It's more like a new recording project centered on the Pumpkins' Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin, with co-founders James Iha and D'Arcy Wretzky long gone.
Corgan and Chamberlin debuted the new five-piece Pumpkins lineup Tuesday at a concert in France, with guitarist Jeff Schroeder, bassist Ginger Reyes and keyboardist Lisa Harriton standing in for Iha and Wretzky. It was the Pumpkins' first show since the band ended its 13-year run on Dec. 2, 2000, at Metro in Chicago.
The quintet introduced a handful of new songs from a forthcoming album, "Zeitgeist," and in a three-hour set mixed in plenty of vintage hits, including "Today," "Cherub Rock" and "1979." The band has scheduled residencies this summer in Asheville, N.C., and San Francisco, but so far has not announced any Chicago concert dates.
